Getting Started

Planning a pregnancy is an exciting time. There are several steps you can take to give yourself the best chance of a healthy pregnancy.

Lifestyle Factors

  • Maintain a balanced diet rich in folate, iron, and omega-3 fatty acids
  • Begin taking prenatal vitamins at least 3 months before trying to conceive
  • Limit caffeine and avoid alcohol
  • Stay physically active with moderate exercise

When to See a Specialist

If you have been trying to conceive for 12 months (or 6 months if you are over 35), it may be time to consult a fertility specialist.
